Old to New

Last week, my four sisters, our mom, and I went to a women's conference in Lethbridge and on our way down, we stopped in Nanton to go to an antique store! The best one there is Sentimental Journey Antiques. It's in this cool old building with antiques in every room.
I found some great old things to use for my Artist Trading Cards.

1. A needlecraft magazine from 1920

2. A stack of US envelopes with cool stamps/postmarks

3. Paper bottle top things and Nabob coupons (no photo)

There were so many cool things there! I wish I could've bought it all.

Day 101 - I have an old Nancy Drew book I used for this card. I flipped open to this random page and wanted to paint these woods with the "clicking noise".

Day 102 - I had to make this card in like 2 minutes because I was at the hotel with my sisters and everyone wanted to go to bed so I had to quickly get it done so I could turn off the light. Even though I was rushed, and it's super simple, I actually kind of love it.

Day 103 - I used one of my antique coupons! Also, napkins are fun for collages because they have lots of folds.

Day 104 - It's quite freeing to do something like fingerpainting! I used painter's tape to mark off a few lines before I got started.

Day 105 - Optical illusions are fun!

Day 106 - AH! I used more of my antique stuff. It was hard to cut into it, but I had to! That's why I bought it. The mini pencil drawings are on cut out paint samples and attached with wire to the string on a tag. I love the silver thimble thing - I think it was a "prize" for subscribing to the magazine? So awesome how different life was nearly 100 years ago.

Day 107 - Jordan and I tried to take advantage of the tennis court down the street by purchasing some equipment this past Summer and giving it a shot...ya I discovered I'm quite dreadful at tennis. It was a good workout though...I chased the ball the whole time.

Day 108 - Another photography card

Day 109 - I'm so crazy... Today I had to jump out of my car and scoop up some dirt from a construction site and put it in a little tupperware container. Oh man, the things I do for this project! (Also, I totally cheated and made this hair pin months ago). Another wearable ATC.

Day 110 - I spilled some watercolors onto this paper and tilted the paper around a bit. I think it kinda looks like some hills and a lake.

Day 111 - Mean spaghetti man

I Made it to Day 100!

Day 85 - This is a picture of me and my sister when we were little. I'm on the left. (The one with the crazy hair!) Emily and I are really close in age so we were always together!

Day 86 - I used to love to make cupcakes but haven't for a while because I just end up eating them all! I tried to do some fancy flowers out of buttercream.

Day 87 - Wax resist and watercolor paints

Day 88 - I don't have a lot of supplies at my workplace...mostly it's just me and my table, linens, and lotion, so I made this card out of one of my business cards.

Day 89 - Don't you love bubble wrap? Aside from the fun you can receive from popping it, it also makes a cool pattern for stamping!

Day 90 - I wasn't ambitious enough to create an actual piƱata, so I just made this cute little guy out of tissue paper.

Day 91 - We don't drink coffee (but I secretly LOVE the smell of it!), so I didn't really want to buy any to make this card. So here's my confession - I am a thief! At Safeway, they have this bulk section for coffee beans, so I picked a few off the floor that someone had spilled. I am a sinner. Haha.

Day 92 - A letter to my future self

Day 93 - A nail flower

Day 94 - An orange sunset

Day 95 - I posted on the ATC facebook group that I needed suggestions for a card and I got so many awesome ideas! The one I decided to go with is a "self portrait" using only words and images.

Day 96 - It is actually really hard to do this! (Draw while looking in the mirror). Also, google translate is my friend.

Day 97 - I made this cute little envelope out of paper then painted it with watercolors and stamps.

Day 98 - Have you ever done this? It's so much fun! Jordan helped me out to make some awesome long-exposure photos.

Day 99 - I tried to draw this butterfly with a white pencil crayon then paint watercolors on top of it, but it was a little hard to see, so I went over it with a silver pencil crayon.

Day 100 - AHH!! I can't believe I made it 100 days without missing a single day! (But I totally dropped the ball and forgot to write "Day 100" on the back of this card. Oops. I fixed it but was too lazy to take a new picture). The lucky person who trades this card will get a wearable item! (Tutorial found here)
